Genesis:

National Teleconsultation Service (NTS) was implemented when the World Health Organization (WHO) encouraged telemedicine as a transport – the vehicle of health care services. The WHO became concerned about the patients, living away to and difficult to seek critical care services. Governments around the world under the influence of WHO suggested member countries utilize IT technologies.

Under this New Programme, the patients will get the services like Diagnosis, OPD Treatments, Major or Minor injuries, research, and evaluations. Hence, in India too, the Government of India encouraged through a scheme called eSanjeevaniOPD. It is to support the rural poor and to the remotest areas. Now, Covid 19 has made teleconsultation as one of the applications of telemedicine.

To promote a panel of doctors on National Teleconsultation Service from each State and they are picked by the respective State Governments. Hence, with a novel objective, the National Teleconsultation Service of the Government of India hosted teleconsultations on the Internet.

Essentials to Participate in Teleconsultations:

1. The patient must possess a laptop, or personal computer with a web camera. The speed of the Internet must be (1Mbps) and eSanjeevani OPD should be operated on a Chrome Browser. Teleconsultation Process:

1. Across the nation, there are 40 OPDs and 15 of them are specialized OPDs and others are General OPDs.

2. A doctor shall get connected with the patient in just 60 seconds the moment a patient clicks the ‘call now” button. In case a doctor doesn’t get connected then there can be latency in the network.

3. Covid Patients or Normal Patients are exposed to a number of slots, Number of doctors/ clinics, waiting room Slots and etc. It also adds the consultation time limit for the attending patients.

4. The health records of individual medical documents such as test reports, hospital discharge summaries are allowed to be uploaded when it is necessary.

5. They shall be observed online by the consulting doctor. After a detailed investigation of the patient’s problems, the conversation closes down.

6. The doctor prepares the e-prescription and delivers it to the patient over the eSanjeevaniOPD.

Token Number Limitations:

1. A token number will be valid until it is consumed at a time in a day. The token number gets expired either when it is used in teleconferencing or not utilized.

2. Every time a patient makes use of eSanjeevani then the patient must fill the registration page, and seek a token number. It is sent to the registered mobile through SMS.

3. A token can be cancelled before consulting a doctor. Patients must click the cancel link posted on the login sheet on the Home Page.

Benefits of ePrescription:

1. Although it is an electronic prescription it aims to reduce medical errors. The prescription contains the same format but in an electronic form.

2. Electronic prescriptions improve patient safety and thereby reducing medication errors.

Patient ID: Permanent Reference Number:

A patient may forget the ID and find it difficult to enter the website, click the forgot patient ID service. And, after clicking the patient login button an SMS to the registered mobile will send the patient ID. The patient can change email ID, mobile number, and address while using eSanjeevaniOPD, and the rest like name, gender, and age cannot be altered.

eSanjeevani OPD Patient Registration & Login Process:

1st Step: To Register on the eSanjeevani Online Portal, the Patients should visit the official website i.e. https://esanjeevaniopd.in/Home

2nd Step: On the National TeleConsultation Service (NTS) Web portal, the Patient should click on the Patient Registration Option.

3rd Step: Now, the patients should enter the Mobile number and Select the state on the Patient Registration Form.

4th Step: Once you select the State, you will get the General OPD, Speciality OPD Options on the computer screen. The Patients will have to select the details and get the token by entering the OTP.

5th Step: Now, you need to come back to the Home page and log in to the Patient Login page using the Patient ID or mobile Number and Token number.

6th Step: After login into the Patient page, you will have to wait for your turn for the Doctor Consult and then download the e-Prescription.

2nd Step: Click on the Doctor Login Option on the Home Menu.

The Process to download the mobile app online:

To access the eSanjeevaniOPD Login page, the Patients and Doctors can not only use the web portal but also use the mobile application.

To download the app, Doctors and patients must go through the official website and click on the Google Play Button which is placed on the left corner of the Home page. Then, Users should hit on the Install button and download the app.
