Ujjwala 2.0 Free Gas Connection scheme has been launched by the Pradhan Mantri Sri. Narendra Modi Garu. The main objective behind launching this yojana is to provide free Gas Connections for women beneficiaries who belong to BPL Category.
So, all eligible beneficiaries can able to apply for free gas Connection Yojana online. The gas connection can make women feel free and easy in cooking at home. Below are the parameters defined in order to provide free gas connections under the enhanced Ujjwala 2.0 Scheme.
PMUY Ujjwala 2.0 Free Gas Connection Scheme Details:
Eligibility Criteria:
1. The women should have attained at least 18 years of age, and the women must not have subscribed to any LPG connection before. The women should also be not a member of OMC in the same household.
2. The adult women should fall into any of the prescribed categories such as SC, ST, PMAY (Gramin), Most BC, Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Tea and Ex- Tea Garden tribes, Forest Dwellers.
3. In addition, the adult women can belong to people who reside in Islands, River Islands, anybody who are enlisted in the 14-point declaration for the poor household. The issue is extended to SECC households (AHL TIN).

Documents Required for Registration at Ujjwala 2.0:
1. The applicant must provide your customer, KYC details. They include the Aadhaar card (proof of Identity/ Address Proof) as written in the Aadhaar. It is an exception for the people of Assam, and Meghalaya.
2. If the applicants are the domicile of the state, then the ration cards shall serve the purpose. Ration cards issued by other state governments can also stand as a reference to certify the family composition. In case a migrant fails to generate ration cards such ones can make self-declaration as per the Annexure.
3. The beneficiary must present the Aadhaar card that maintains the details of family members at SI.3.
4. The beneficiary bank account number and IFSC should be mentioned. In addition, the supplementary KYC describes the status of the beneficiary’s family members.
5. The applicant is given two options to submit the application. It can be made at the distributor’s bay (offline) or submit it at the online official web portal.
Ujjwala 2.0 Yojana Online Application Process:
1st Step: To apply for the PM Ujjwala 2 Yojana, applicants must visit the official website i.e. https://www.pmuy.gov.in/ujjwala2.html.
2nd Step: On the PMUY Main page, one can click on the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme Registration link as shown below.
3rd Step: Once you hit on the click here option, Applicants should select any of the following connections like Indane, Bharat, & HP Gas and view the connection application page on the fresh tab.
4th Step: After choosing the desired Gas Connection, applicants need to complete the Online Registration form with the Correct credentials and submit it online.
5th Step: If anyone needs to apply for the Ujjwala 2.0 Free Gas Connection scheme offline must download the application and fill in the form as per the instructions.
6th Step: In the application form, the applicants must fill in details such as the Aadhaar card number, name, address, mobile number and also attach the documents and submit it at the gas agency for verification.
7th Step: After submission of the application, one must wait for at least 15 working days.
Deposit-free LPG Connections: Low-income Families
Ujjwala 2.0, an outcome of Ujjwala 1.0 that began in 2016 yet again bounced back in the Indian Households with more facilities than before. Now, in this financial year 21-22, the central government under the able leadership of PM Sri Narendra Modi has a lot more to give to the families who are below the poverty line.
The scheme will benefit 1 lakh, migrant labour families. In the address of the PM in the inaugural event, he says the basic amenities are addressed a decade ago. One Crore LPG connections to the low-income group families and it is enabled with deposit-free LPG connections.
PM Ujjwala 2 Yojana shall provide the 1st refill and Free hotplate to the eligible applicants. The procedure to enroll for a gas connection is very simple, it will not need documentary proof of ration card or address proof.
The recipient of the gas connection will have to make a ‘family declaration’ and it will be considered as proof of residence.
Growth of Ujjwala Scheme:
1. Marking the historical event in the freedom struggle movement, in the land of Mangal Pandey the scheme: Ujjwala 1.0 was launched in 2016, located at Ballia in UP. Then, the target to provide LPG connections was to 5 crore women who belong to BPL households.
2. In April 2018, women of seven categories were included.
They are:
- SC/ST
- PMAY
- AAY
- most backward classes
- tea garden
- forest dwellers
- Islands.
3. In 2018, the yearly target from five crores was revised to eight crores LPG connections. Incidentally, it was noticed that in August 2019 in just seven months ahead the target got realized.
4. The statistics state that at least 8 crore poor Dalits and backward, and tribal families were issued with free gas connections. It was noted that free gas connections have made an immense impact on livelihood in the Covid 19 period.
5. In order to meet the demand for the refilling of LPG, about 11 thousand distribution centers are opened. In UP alone, the filling gas stations have increased from 2 thousand to 4 thousand. With the increasing gas connections for seven years, the PM dreams for 100 percent gas coverage.
